Structured Workplace Learning
The Structured Workplace Learning Program aims to facilitate the provision of structured learning opportunities to students in a real or simulated workplace. This structured work placement involves training and mentoring that provide students with a broad understanding of the world of work, and the opportunity to develop their technical and generic employability skills.
In most cases the skills are assessed and the achievement of competencies is recognised nationally by industry and education systems. Structured Workplace Learning is offered in many schools across Australia to assist with the transition from school to post school life. Careers Network connects schools with industry by organising compulsory workplacements and recording the these for compliance purposes.
The objectives of Careers Network in the Structured Workplace Learning Program are to:
- ► increase access to Structured Workplace Learning;
► increase student participation in Structured Workplace Learning;
► promote Structured Workplace Learning;
► enhance young people’s employability skills;
► enhance the quality of structured work placements.
